"There Is Nothing Underneath Me" is an installation consisting of 5 pieces of layered cloths, threat and some covered by embroidered calligraphy of Farsi script in black or white string. A series of naturally dyed fabrics with onion and tea, they have a skin color tone which I burn, tear and stitch using different material and processes. My aim is to recreate an organic and animal like feeling with the fabrics. Each piece resembles an internal organ with a written embroidery line on the bottom either in Turkish or Farsi. I grew up in a bilingual house hold, and for me there was always a struggle to use my body as a way of communication. In these works, language seems to be in a battle with the flesh like resemblances.
